A Beautiful Death (Attn. Sam, Orion, Summer)

North West of Bay side, Brunswick village is the hip and up and coming neighborhood with small restaurants, coffee shops and corner stores. The old rail road once went through Brunswick but was decommissioned in the late 40s, now the Caboose and a few of the older passenger cars serve as a quint restaurant and hang out, called "The Tug"

Mysteries: Of course, Jack does not respond - being outside of this realm. Looking around, you are in a section of an empty city - a quiet, isolated location where there was no one but yourself. The city, of course, is painted - or seems painted, even though if you touch it feels even and like... well, like a city might.

It's empty here - but one has to wonder, if you fell in - can you return? You seem to have fallen from above - but the sky looks as painted as anywhere else. The shadows seem all too real, here too - beautiful work, in the end - but who would have thought you might -experience- a painting like this?

Eris: oi...*ah badbadbadbadbad..... she looked around, biting her lips, then up, then around, then up... oh! maybe if she climbed a building! she... did look for a way to get up to a roof*

Mysteries: That would be fairly easy to manage, since of course some locations do have ladders painted up there. The ladders seem sturdy enough to hold your weight, which - given they are made of paint - seems a relief.

Eris: *well that.... was good, right? so ye... up she goes, carefully, checking, she needed to just get up, maybe a bit of jumping*

Mysteries: Jumping of course does not, in fact, leap you out of the painting. One must wonder - can people looking at the painting see you in it?!

Eris: *Ahrg! ok ok don't panic! ooh! * it has got to have an edge! *yea, she just has to find the edge! yea... that.... she looked around again, maybe something that seemed like the frame shadow*

Management:
07/20/2017 3:31 am Eris has rolled an wits 2 - comp 3 roll (5 dice), getting 1, 10, 9, 6, 6, 2, with a difficulty of 8 on a 10 sided die. Eris has 2 successes.

Mysteries: As you move down, and outwards, you can't help but feel like this isolated location reminds you of... well, basically any real horror story that you might have watched. You know, with ghost towns, and if there -were- people there they were likely out to kill you? Something like that. As that thought dawns on you, one can't help but feel...

Not alone.

And yet despite that feeling, there is a similar sense of wonder. A sense of Mystery here. No one has taught you yet how to seek out Mysteries, unravel them and discover their truth - but here, in a place like this, surely that cannot be a hard task?

Eris: *ooohm.. that got her biting her lips, and looking around more.... wishing she had her swords. or a gun, or something! ooh she looks around for a thin she was use to wack with...

Then it downs on her, Mystery! ohhh! she concentrates, trying to decipher the Glitter Sense here!*

Mysteries: Opening one's eyes to the supernatural is almost like exhaling a breath you didn't know you had. One moment it's the world as it is - the other moment, you can see the magic in the air around you - almost palpable. But turning it on wasn't enough - you had to will the magic to shape itself into the forms of the supernal - you had to take your sight and harness it to it's greatest focal point to truly begin to understand.

Mysteries: You've seen and experienced these signs before - that float above you. They have meaning, significance. As you push your will against the magic around you, forcing it into shapes you can understand, a part of you -really- wishes that someone bothered teaching the minutia of all of this to you - you feel like you'd understand it better.

Mysteries: As you flood the area with runes, you can figure out a good bit of information from it you figure - so you take a moment to examine the runes that you have filled the air with - to study how your mana reacts to it. The input that comes is partially a part of what you are, partially your own understanding of your magic, and partially a reflection of how the mana touches the magic around you and returns to you. You can understand, a bit, that the magic around you is of course a spacial entity - and nothing you do will explain -how- you got to this location. But fate can tell you the why - this place is tied to the emotions of the person who created this place. The person who created this place did so feeling... betrayed, hurt, lied to - you can see the words liar etched into almost every weave of paint - and something about -you- resonates with how he felt about the person who he was thinking of as he painted this.

You can feel a tie - a direction, like if you follow it - if you figure out HOW to follow it - it might lead you to more information

Eris: oi.. but I haven't lied to anyone *a pout* hei! CREEP! I don't even know you! *she screamed at the painter, nop, she didn’t think she knew him, then a pout and a frown, she breaths, ok ok... follow.... and it says liar, maybe if she follows the lieing feeling....*

Eris: oh! I’ve got it! *she remembers, Serendipity! she has used it before! and SO... she put a hand on her eyes, and started walking, simply using her feeling of GLITTER to guide her where she should go!*

You see the words shining, almost in a path - before you decide that direction is the direction you need to go. (Wits + Composure)

Eris: *she started to follow it, yup yup follow the liars path, she even started to hum the silly song about following the yellow brick-road, but instead of saying bright, of course she went with liar.... why did she always find the creeps?*

Mysteries: You are probably too busy focusing on the cues - probably too busy travelling your chosen path, you don't notice until it's too late - until a set of hands are on your shoulders, a grip strong enough to stop you in your tracks.

Eris: *aaaand, of course she screams, aiming to get away the grab! oi! wait.. to late! oh! hit chest and jump away! yes, that!*

Mysteries: You strike out, blindly - and hit... a painting. Well, that was to be expected. You strike against a black, inky shadow of a man - something that was painted there to be a sort of 'hard to notice' bit. The shadows are painted to make it hard to see - even though the light is here, and were it a person you'd see it's features a bit more easily. It recoils, but barely - hardly feeling your punch.

Eris: *ooh crap, oh crap, oh crap, oh crap! RUN!*

Mysteries: It moves - slowly. Not a fast kind of movement. A step - and then another step. Not running, but walking - and fleeing it is not hard in the least. It swings, and you dodge what looks like a knife - before moving as fast as you can - down the liars path?

Eris: *yuzyuz down the liars path! run run run run!, trying not to squeal!*

Mysteries: The liars path is fairly straightforward - perhaps to you, anyways. Left, right, left, left, right - and into the forest, through the woods to grandma's house we go.

Oh. Wait. There was a house in the woods - by itself, painted there in a beautiful strokes. A picket fence, a mailbox that says Malley on the side. A door that has the words painted on it "for my beloved".

Eris: *she slowed when she saw it... NOT thinking on forest and grandma's houses! and she did look around for more shadows, before giglerly stepping closer... more looking for shadows, then biting her lips..... ok.... making sure there were any creepy shadows AGAIN, then she tried to concentrate on the Glittler once more*

.

Mysteries: It's fairly easy to push the runes over this area, and forge the sigils to get a grasp of the mystery here - but you cannot seem to piece through it. Not yet, anyways. You need more information - maybe to be found within?

Eris: *she huffs, frowning, but... does... move inside, ready to swat creepy shadows away! *

Mysteries: The inside is fairly straightforward - an average looking location, plain looking kitchen and... a locked master bedroom. Getting past a lock was probably not hard though, right?

Eris: uh....*better find an open window*

Mysteries: There are no open windows into the room - nor windows in the back, for that matter. No - you'll need to either use some form of magic, or bust through

Mysteries: Or pick the lock, if you can

Eris: *she pffts* fine fine *she tries to pick the lock*

Eris: *she sighs...* fine...*she attacked it!*

Mysteries: AS you slam against the door, you find it crushed against your weight and - crash. A nearby mirror is hit when you open the door. That's seven years bad luck you know - and the worst part is, it's pretty true as you an literally see your luck dwindle sometimes when you do something superstiously bad like cross under a ladder. Not usually horrible but...

The room you are in is an empty bedroom - and look, there WAS a window. On the inside. You see a number of pictures here, all of different women - all very pretty. The words liar, etched upon them.

This might be a good place to try to figure out the rest of the mystery. Maybe.

Eris: aaah damn! I hate this place! *eyeing the mirror, fine, she'll have to find a clover, or or or or or or * argh! *and she looks around, a sigh, she breaths, find, Concentrating on Glitter*

Mysteries: As you look at the papers, pushing forth your will and focus into those runes, you can't help but grasp the nature of it. It's difficult of course - this is your first time - but you get it, finally.

And then it all clicks. It's hard, really, to express the sensation that comes with understanding a Mystery. With understanding the magic and thought that went into something so innately that it becomes a part of you - that you understand it in ways no other human being could. But you do, and it happens as you do.

The person who created this world was a painter. A painter who loved his wife, loved his family. He made his fortune on paintings - but not a great deal. Enough to make ends meet. He built a house like this at one point, and put forth all his time to the woman he loved. Then, she betrayed him for another man - and he crumbled, broke apart. His soul, his destiny is etched into this paint, into these walls - each picture, a picture of another woman whose fallen into this painting.

They were all the woman he loved in his mind - and all lead to this room to answer a question - a series of questions sometime, that no person would be able to answer. The answer did not matter - a lie would anger him, and the truth would break him. He may have killed the others, once upon a time. He may have taken them as his. But they were no longer here now - and neither, for that matter, was he. Not in any destroyable capacity.

The mirror warps, and you see the shadowed blob - the painting of the man whose faces can't be seen. He speaks, quietly, and says, "Who would you die for?"

The truth of this place is still flowing through your mind - a pure and total understanding of how this 'place' seemed to work.

Eris: woa... crap...*she does whisper, yea... why does she ALWAYS get the creeps. And then she blinks, eeeping as the mirror reshapes and the blob comes out, she STAAAARES, before she grabs the first thing in the house to throw at it* not you Creep! and I'm not your wife! get over it!

Mysteries: The first thing to grab is a pillow. It bounces off harmlessly. "Who would you die for?"

You feel you need to answer the question.

Eris: *She looks around for something 'else' to throw* I don't know! *she frowned, she really didn't! she knew she could do pretty wild things when pressed, but die? who? nop, is the kind of answer you answer when you FACE the option, not when randomly asked!*

Mysteries: "Who do you love most in the world?"

Eris: *She blinks at that, frowning at the creep, she STILL threw something at it! she had to, Creepy ass, blinking though, because right then she just... felt her heart ache. Mean there were a good couple of people right now she loved... but most in the world?* my dad *she said, so softly, because he was no longer there, and then she ARGHTED! angry at it, for making her remember him! and she threw yet another thing!*

Mysteries: There is a recoil, shifting as it heard the truth. The mirror broke, just a little bit. "Liar." It accused. It continued it's questions, "Who would you die for?"

Had the answer changed? Why did it ask again?

Eris: *She blinks* I didn’t lie! *she threw yet another thing and looked around, ok moving backwards!* I already told you!

Mysteries: "Your lack of conviction betrays you." It thought a moment, and asked, "Who do you hate?"

Eris: *She blinks, stopping at that. hate hate? really hate? the vamp, but he was dead... did she still hate him? no.... yes?* I don't know his name, he is death.. *she was about to say she hated him too, but realised no.. that wasn't really true, she was scared and he was creeping her out*

Mysteries: A Shatter. After a moment, it said, "What is the truth you wish no one to know?"

Eris: *aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand another blink, uh?! oi, she frowned at it, REALLY frowned* not fare! *she folded her arms, and huffed, then frowned more, before... looking, like... making sure no one but Creep number a gazillion was there, she still frowned, before puffing* that I'm always scared *low, well she was, maybe that is why she kept trying reckless things, to see if that scared her scare away*

Mysteries: The glass shattered just a moment more - one more, one more would do it. Maybe - was it precious truths? Or... It scowled, and said, "Who, alive, do you fear most?"

Eris: *she eyed the mirror then the shadow, then she blinked, blink, blink, blink, blink... this time looking for a name, but... alive? he was death, there wasn't anyone left to be scared off... alive mean, this thing was just a blob....* no one... not... right now... *she thought about it more, but really could not come with a living being that scared her right now.... wait* Orion *she blinked, but it was true, because she looked up to him, but... that face... he really had scared her! *

Mysteries: A shatter. "No. No. No!" He reached out, and grabbed her by the scruff of her neck - pulling her to the mirror. "Liar. You are a liar."

"What is your cruelest lie?"

Eris: *She let a little yelp, trying to avoid being grabbed, then just trying to get it to let her go! she struggled a bit, how would she know! cruelest lie! is it... oh wait.... it... was not a lie, not really, she always MEANT it... but in the end... she always broke it, an dit just caused problems.... she frowned, and closed her eyes, brazing for having to fight the thingy* That I'll never do it again *well she meant fights, getting expelled, misbehaving... she REALLY tried... but she never got it right...so...*

Mysteries: The mirror began to break further, and you feel yourself being ejected out into the air - out into the world, into the ground, into the safety of your living room.

Eris: *aaaand another small scream, as she is thrown... ooh! living room?! she perked and looked around, fixedly around, making sure she WAS home, it was, right?*

Mysteries: It seemed so. The baby is now crying though. Were you here by yourself?

Eris: *she blinks, blinks* Jack? Sam? *she eyed the painting, aaand decided to throw the wrapping paper on top and a note of 'don't touch it!' before going check on JJ*
riddle for mortals... or riddle for gods...?
