New Haven Pier
He was so hungry.
That was the thought that drove Justin Wildes through the Pier, stumbling his way from place to place. He needed to eat, and here there was a plethora of food and... other activities. The vendors of the pier were active enough that he ordered a funnel cake - no two, no five! Wait, give him a hot dog and a pizza slice to go with it, or two or eight. The piles of food came down.
They tasted like ash, and he didn't really have the stomach to eat it all, but there he was, trying. Desperately. Because while it tasted like ash and puke and shit on his tongue, while he wanted to throw it all up as soon as it went down, he was just...
People in the pier pay him no mind. This was New Haven, and for all it's weirdness there was always some strange crazy guy wandering around. Maybe not crazy enough to call out for the Asylum to pick him up, but crazy enough. Perhaps they were all a little mad, staying here when they knew it was dangerous. Staying here when they knew it would kill them to do so.
Humans were stupid.
A man steps up next to him, and smiles. "Eat this." He says, passing Justin a plate of what looks like an italian dish. Some kind of Pasta - Justin doesn't hesitate though - he swallows it up and it tastes... good. Really good. Surprising - he'd not been able to keep a dish down for at least a week now, with everything tasting the way it had. Speaking of which.
Justin rushed to the dock, and began throwing up. People are sitting there laughing at him as he does, talking about things. Can you believe that guy? Serves him right, eating that much food, idiot. Always talking like they understood. Always the first to judge.
The man though. The one who'd given him the food smiles, especially when Justin lets out a hoarse whisper. "Moar."
LockdownShe had taken Constantine shopping, they had been at it all day. She had found, that constantine liked skirts, but she was also told to get pants, undies, bras....the way she looked at cross a pair that would puff up her boobs a bit. Which she didnt find amusing. Ah well
She wanted to take a walk after, maybe get a good old fashioned pier corn dog or something, so they found them selves at the pier
"A lot of kid come here to play, you would think it safe. Its not, not really. No where really is"
Constantine*She... did like skirts, made her more confortable... but... she... wanted LONG skirts, kind of old fashioned... and she would seem SHOCKED if Lockdown suggested a short one... on that part, she 'll notice she also insisted on long sleeves, and high necks... and of course she was SHOCKED at the underpants and.... lack of corsett and under shirts and under skirt and .... alright.... not so shocked giving she had been wearing pants all this time... still the girl didn't seem to want to show any skin... and she did... constantly look around, either amazed, or shocked, or a mixture in between*
*At the Pier she kind of stared at everything, pretty much like a... well... kid... blinking to Lockdown* is not? with all the lights? *her voice a soft accented French*
*Connie was quite a petite girl, barely scratching the 4'5 and that was calling it a stretch, if you had to guess she was shorted. Golden hair was tied on what looked like a complicated braid, in a way it looked elegant, she was used to wear it in more complicated buns, but... braids will do for now. and She was wearing jeans, and a sweater that fited her big, so she could hide her hands in the sleeves. Her eyes did scan the place, still in half amazement and half horror, and now a thrid paranoia, as her lips pressed together.... taking in all, even the people laughing, the man... leaning on the railing... the wheel, the vendors... the clothes... a double blink! what were those girls wearing?!*
Allison SmithAllison had been frequenting the pier a lot lately. It was so easy to pick up on the human predators that roamed there.. get thier attention somehow.. and lure them away to give them thier just desserts.
Not that she was doing that this time around. The pier was also genuinely fun! Something that she really didn't get enough of in her younger life.
An eyebrow raised at the slight oddity of the ravenous man who had vomited up food.. and was still asking for more. Her attention drifting between him and the one who offered justin the meal he wanted more of. Of course the crowd laughed at the suffering man.. people were cruel like that sometimes.
Her mode of dress was simple, a medium length black skirt and a red blouse... short heels, and a black purse.
Ruth LeHayesRuth was looking out across the endless black sea, watching the waves, and had her grey hair hidden by her hood. She had on her sneakers and skinny jeans, and one could see a thin white cord going from her pocket to her ears, and there's a bounce in her step. Also, she might be muttering something as her head bounces to some unseen rhythm.
It feels good. That's the worst part. Getting all of that sickening stuff out. It wasn't that it didn't stay there, it was just so foul he couldn't manage it. He wipes his lips, brushing away the acids that were on his tongue even as he hears people laughing at him.
"Shut up! Shut up shut up shut UP!"
The water seems to go still for a moment, as he looks to the vendor, where the food is left. He moves towards there, and forgets all about the man who gave it to him. In the process he bumps into another man, passing by.
"Hey buddy, you got a problem?"
"Shut UP!" He says, pushing the man with a little too much force. The man goes flying - not literally of course, but with more force than might be expected of Justin judging by his physical appearance. The sensation of magic lights in the air for those whose sights were sensitive to it just as the man hits the rail and passes. Justin, concerned only by the hunger, moves for the food.
The crowd is starting to circle him, even as one of his friends decides it's about time to get Justin out of here - none of them are cops of course, but the action was uncalled for, and people are already checking the rail to make sure he's okay...
It looks like a fight is about to go down, with Justin at the center of it - and Justin doesn't care.
He's just so hungry.
Even with all this, people ignore it. Not the people dead at the center though - people come and watch a spectacle at any point and time, but to the Vendors they don't really care - to the people buying, it's not their business. If you've ever been to another city, it's strange how very blase that some of these people can be, even with what's going on.
LockdownWith the way her own flesh was marred, she understood the desire to keep it covered. She wore jeans she could move in, a long sleeved green shirt, with a jacket over it and was strapped for those who knew what to look for
She blinked as her attention went to the guy who just threw another like a twing. At the feel of magic , she pulled her life sight up to see if the guy was.. well what was going on if she could tell. Which caused others with the ability to feel magic to feel it in the back of their throats
"Stay close" She said, moving forward a bit to see if she could figure out what was going on
Allison SmithHer eyes go a bit wide for the briefest of moments. A slight smile appears, only to be subsumed by worry.
Constantine*Her eyes snapped to the motion, giving a startled perk. She had still too recent her own ordeal to just notice, she had perked and stared... she felt the twinkly but as she has yet to get used to things, she doesn't think on Sight, she just looks around with her eyes, but its clear right? man going crasy, man unconsious or worse.. and Lockdown going over* ... uh.. wait...*she does move after her, staying close, her small, delicate hands tugging uncosciously of the sleeves as she does so*
Ruth LeHayesEven through her music, Ruth heard gasps of fear and someone getting fucked up. She tore her earbuds out and looked around, finding the crowd and the assailant. "Goddamnit, what now?"
Allison has failed a Family Resemblance Roll.
The first thing that Lockdown notices as her eyes open (naturally, to the path of the aether and forces unless she actively keeps those out of the loop while utilizing life) - is that "Justin" is not alive. How long that's been the case of course is a matter of debate, but no amount of life flow seems to exist in that walking corpse.
Which is something Allison might notice too. It's got a certain... strange taste. It's not really blood though, but more like... rubber on her tongue? Pork? It smells rotting and dead, and tastes a bit like meat and thought.
A man comes - a security guard, and he seems to be trying to calm the rising tensions between the two. He's polite at first - trying to get Justin (who is now ignoring them to swallow up the (italian?) food. He looks to Justin, and grabs the man's shoulder, talking about how he has to leave - as someone else is helping the just 'attacked' man get out of the water.
LockdownThe look on her face when she saw what it was was...frightening. It was pure hatrid and took a moment to shift her features to something more neutral
"Constantine" She said leaning closer to the little woma "Dont let it touch you"
She did step forward to try to help the security guard "bet its bath salts" She said, trying to warn the gaurd
Constantine*She was, luckily not looking at Lockdown, but at what was happening, frowning and looking around, expecting the Magus Guard to down on the man, of course... oh right... there isn't one here... so when Lockdown speaks, she blinks up to her, a nod* wh...*but she is moving on to speak with the guard, aaaand she just follows her*
Allison Smith*she slowly moved closer to the fight, eyes darting around to the others in the crowd. Dare she chance unleashing a nightmare on the cousin to end the public scuffle? No, to many witnesses.. some of which are definately 'cousins'... No there is a proper way to do this without risking drawing the ire of the locals accidentally.*
"I said..." The blood was starting to bubble, his anger riling up at them. "To shut... UP!" He swung towards the nearest person - the security guard in this case actually, because he had his hand on his shoulder.
It stops though. Just as Justin is trying to swing. One of the men, sitting next to the Vendor. No one really had noticed him there, including Justin (so preoccupied with his own food after all) but he smiles, and says softly, "Why don't you go ahead and cool down. Your obviously losing it. They asked you to leave. So leave."
Justin pauses a moment, and relaxes. He shrugs the guards arm off him, and starts to walk off, keeping the dish of the italian food with him. The man, who'd interrupted what could have been very bad for that security guard, smiled. "Are you alright sir? Some people. They really have no sense. Especially in this town."
Ruth LeHayesRuth found herself edging towards the darkest shadows she could find, anything black enough she could mold for safety. Still, she wanted to see what would happen next. Why pass up a good fight?
LockdownWith that, she turned her sight on the new guy. Depending on what she saw there, would either send her after the problem or ..she didnt know honestly
She took a moment to breathe in, to think. She couldnt let hatrid for those things have a edge. She looked at Constantine who had stuck with her and shrugs before looking back
Constantine*She really was lost... her eyes looking at the formerly angered man to the one who had calmed him to Lockdown, That had gone well, right?*
Allison Smith*that the man had actually stopped justin so easily caught her interest as well... though it was probably best to just observe for moment.. she was torn between following the man or going back to her- oh! Hey a familiar face! She circled around.. hoping to get close to ruth without scaring her off.*
"Yeah I'm fine. Just glad he was willing to walk off, I thought that I'd have to forcibly remove him," The guard says, rubbing the back of his forehead. Thanks for the assist."
The security guard looks to Lockdown and said, "And you were probably right. Some people just take the wrong stuff to get high, and it rots their brains to hell and back."
LockdownShe gave a nod, "Im gonna go make sure he doesnt harm anyone, just sorta..escourt him out" She then turned and started to tail the guy, just kind of watching him to try to get him out of the public eye
Constantine*she lbinks up to Lockdown, but does move after her, she is not about to stay alone with all this folk she does not know* Is that a good idea *keepign close by*
Ruth LeHayesRuth spots her as well, and lets one of the few people she knew in this town get closer. "Um...Allison, got any idea what the fuck is going on?"
The Security guard looks to Lockdown, and said, "No thanks, I'll go ahead and handle it. My job after all. Thank yo--"
He pauses a moment to look over to the man who'd helped him to thank him again, and blinked as he saw nothing. "Whoa. Guy pulled a total batman on us."
He shakes his head, moving to go in that direction.
Allison Smith"mmm. yes actually." She smiles honestly. "We should follow.. we might see something truly... unique." she says as she gestures to follow the man..
Lockdown"Eh," She said letting the gaurd move foward but following. Cause, you know....to Constantine she looked at her and said "kind of my job to watch out for strange stuff"
Constantineah..*she nodded, they HAD told her so, so she pressed her lips, she would not get in the way... but she was not staying behind alone! nhu uh!, she fidgeted slightly*
Ruth LeHayes"Um...okay." Ruth wasn't sure where Allison was going with this, but she was confident enough in her abilities to slip away if things went south.
Allison Smith*she smiles and lead the way after the man, keeping the other people following in sight* I strongly suspect what that man ate, wasn't exactly.. itallian. *she noted aloud* Tell me.. when does a place like this.. serve anything other than junk food?
Ruth LeHayes"What, you think he ate an actual Italian?"
Justin, for his part, is heading for the edge. Already he's hungry again, but at least it wasn't the ravenous starving of before - because he was literally hungry enough that he could have eaten anything.
He had to thank the man who gave him the food, but he'd like an idiot just ran off due to his hot headedness. Who was that guy? The memories of what had occurred up to this point were all hazy, and he wasn't entirely sure that it was because of the hunger or something else.
He doesn't even notice that five people are still following him. If he did, he probably wouldn't even care.
Allison Smith*she gave Ruth a knowing smile* Well he certainly wasn't holding down any other food. It is possible. Pity the other guy vanished.. but this one is more.. concerning at the moment.
The area of the pier is a wooden center of planks, jutting out into the ocean. Upon it are several vendors and various amusement activities, though you've probably passed them by now. Justin, for his part, is in the center of the planks, heading off it so that he can head to the beach and eventualyl the road. The sky is cloudy, but it's not raining - just giving that dull gloom that it almost always does.
LockdownShe scratched the back of her head "Why is it always the pier?" she asked softly
She looked up at the sky and smirked then continued to follow, she didnt want to set the PEIR on fire, just the dead thing
Constantine*She looked around, to the water, the pier, the beach, she hurried on along, her stride shorter than Lockdown's* ware are we going to do when we catch up? *she asked softly*
Ruth LeHayes"Um...right," Ruth said, not sounding entirely convinced as she followed along.
Allison Smith*she winked* just watch.. you'll see soon enough.
The man moved into the sand, heading to the road - as the security guard started to move to the side of the pier. Really, he didn't have to keep wandering passed this, but he had noticed that no small amount of individuals had come to walk the guy out.
Not really all that surprising though, given the incident.
LockdownShe shrugs "I actually dont know" She said almost softly "Im not exactly defensive.." Which was to say "More tactile nuke" She pointed to the parking lot "maybe if he gets in a car..."
Constantine*She nods, looking where she points, then around* I think he just wants to leave
Allison SmithShe lets out a sharp whistle to get the officer's attention, hoping to simply lock eyes with the man first
Ruth LeHayes"The fuck?" Why was she doing this, Ruth asked herself. And who the fuck are those two people who also followed the weirdo?
Allison Smith"Sir, leave please." She smiles inflicting her first attempt of magic this evening
Allison has rolled 1 success on "You Must Obey". Security Guard Resists and Fails.
The man pauses a moment, as he looks to the girl. A blink as the fear begins to seep in - his body moving of it's own volition. He wouldn't normally move from this spot - it was his job, it was what he was supposed to do, but the idea of not listening makes him feel sick inside - wrong. He can't help it, not really - without thinking his flesh is moving out of his own control, and he's not sure why.
Lockdown Calls Lightning - 2 successes
Lockdown"Still, a possible breach" She said lowly, her hand coming up to wrap around the dog tags. She felt the aether part as she opened herself to the tower of the mighty calling its electrical force from the cloudy sky
She did feel the other magic but she was a bit preoccupide with finding out if this thing can survive lightning
Allison nets 4 successes on family resemblance
Lockdown fails a wisdom check
Allison Smith*she smiles just a bit more as she gets that tingle on her nose the scent of mystery and magic.* And the wizard strikes first. *she murmurs to ruth*
Ruth has managed 2 successes on a Kenning Roll
The result is rather immediate, and overt. The blast comes down like a sack of potatoes, and a lightning bolt comes down to strike the man. There are a sudden jolt of screams - the bolt was rather sudden and rather close, but the resulting effect isn't immediate - until someone who looked in the direction of the lightning notices the man that was hit - the bolt having sent him flying backwards.
Justin for his part isn't expecting it. He has no means to really sense magic, but when it hits him it's like being smacked with a bat to the chest. Or maybe a cannon. A cannon was more appropriate. He lands on his back, literally shocked at what is happening and not figuring it out.
Ruth looks at the world and sees it as it is, trying to determine whether or not certain factors had come into play but... in this case she gets no visual cues in response to her queries. Its not that she's not sensing it of course - it's just that what she is looking for isn't there, and that absense of something is just as notable about it, just as there, as if something had occurred to tell her otherwise.
Someone calls out, saying they think someone has gotten hit. It's only a matter of time before someone calls an ambulance.
Allison Smith"tsk, can't have that." she murmers, capitializing on the poor light in the area and inflicting her lair trait of disruption. That'll delay any useful attempts to call out for a while..
LockdownShe put her hands in her pockets "Damn. I think it just tickled him" She seemed a little grumpy at that "well I guess that answers if that works or not. Mmhmmm"
Allison Smith*there is probably another tingle of fate and or forces as technology seems to suddenly fail to work in the immedate area Best way to help keep a lid on a rather flashy arrow's attempts to deal with something that is clearly undead of some sort*
Ruth LeHayes"Jesus...argh, no, fuck!" Ruth wasn't sure if she was cringing more at using a Lord she no longer believed in's name in vain, or that some lighting came out of the sky and just blasted this guy, and Allison seemed to be perfectly fine with it (and the tough woman was acting like she expected it). Her sense went into overdrive again, trying to see if there was the tingle of Fae machinations. Thankfully she didn't find any, but that didn't rule out some other source of weirdness, she started to realize.
Allison has spent willpower and inflicted her lair trait: 2 Successes
Allison Smith*she nods a bit* It was a bit too flashy.. *she gives ruth an appologetic look, then to Lockdown, singling her out* You better wrap this up quick, Ms. Potter. I can only buy so much time. *she then states as the light and music gutters out on the pier itself.. of course a different kind of panic surely ensues*
Then the lights go out. Everything goes out. Click, click, bzzt. It's not unusal, truth be told. A lightning bolt did just strike nearby and could have totally knocked out the power as a result, at least that's what most people will say later. There is suddenly a barrage of screams from the Ferris Wheel - people trapped in a frozen wheel, the lights out in the sky.
Justin himself was still confused, but he was alive at the very least - he figured. Why? That was a bolt of fucking lightning, that ought to have killed him. Should have, really. He looked to his hand, even as some people start coming from the pier to come check on him.
Just what he needed. A bunch of people looking down on him again. And he was still so... damn... hungry. Somehow, he doubted that the hospital food would be quite to par with what he needed. He started to rise, looking at himself and patting himself down. "I'm okay...!" He called out, figuring that would shut them up. "Just hit close."
Right. That was it. Right? It hadn't hit him. It was just near, and the force of the blast pushed him back. That was the only thing that made sense in this topsy turvy world, and of course it'd feel like he was hit, because it happened in that one moment. He's shooken though - this strange event has messed with his head, and he's not sure what's going on.
So he starts to run. Amidst all the magic going off, ping after ping seems to run - at the very least for Jesse, seh can see the wave of magic cutting off the electricity and forces in the area, even if its not supernal in nature. But what was it,? That answer alluded her.
LockdownShe was genuinely confused as to why her lightning strike had not actually worked, normally that took down ..well other Mages she guessed. But the fire from his clothing, he should be on fire, right ? But he was not. Just smoking.
The quip made her move her eyes but not her head to the sound of the voice, she pretended otherwise to not here it,
Though that confused her too, there was no way to know that it was her that called the forces of nature..not even ..oh wait if another mage was watching , well maybe but they damn sure wouldnt speak about it. Maybe tell the hierarch that the sentinal got Zues happy. She sighed and watched it run off, smoking.
And then noted the energy change, the lights go out. She reached up and scratched the back of her head.
She very calmly walked over to the railing and hopped up on it, watching the guy run off. If a car passed, she could have it run him over. Yeah, that would work. Otherwise...she really needed to learn some space
Allison SmithThankfully the road itself wasn't an area unde rher influence.. but if it was.. well engine and brake failure was a certainty...
Ruth LeHayes"OK...so, what the fucking fuck was that?" Then the power went out, which...admittedly was fine with Ruth, the shadows were her true friend. Still, the reason for the outage set her on edge as she watched the tough woman run after the guy who JUST GOT HIT BY LIGHTING.
Allison Smith*she looked at ruth* A little wizard on.. undead action. *she shrugs* It certainly was.. unique yeah? *she smiles*
LockdownWhen the guy was out of sight she hopped off the railing and put her arm around Constatine heading to her jeep "Ah a night at the pier," She meandered off ,s he would find the thing later
